IAVGO is seeking lawyers or community legal workers with experience in working alongside marginalized and precarious workers and interested in working within a community legal clinic as part of a collective team of community organizers, community legal workers, lawyers, and administrative staff.IAVGO is a specialty legal clinic, funded by Legal Aid Ontario, to provide legal services to injured workers throughout Ontario. Our services include legal advice, legal representation, public legal education, law reform advocacy, and community outreach and development. The clinic operates as a collective, where the staff shares in the day-to-day management of the clinic.IAVGO is a leader in workers' compensation law. We are committed to building the collective strength and capacity of injured workers and their organizations to improve Ontario's workers' compensation system. We also train and supervise law students through our satellite clinic, Advocates for Injured Workers.IAVGO is committed to helping the most disadvantaged injured workers, especially those who are precariously employed or belong to marginalized communities. We prioritize cases involving migrant workers.Main Duties of the Job:Advise and represent injured workers in workers' compensation and related proceedingsParticipate in the clinic's law reform, public legal education, community development, outreach, and test case workSupport other clinic caseworkers with research and strategic adviceDepending on qualifications, share in supervising our law student satellite clinicProduce reports for policy advocacy and law reformSupport a meaningful commitment to equity and diversity in all aspects of our work,
