SUBSTITUTE TEACHING STAFF for the 2026-2027 School Year Recruiting for all zones: The Grande Yellowhead Public School Division is looking for Substitute Teachers dedicated to providing a quality instruction and education to students in the absence of the regular teacher. Substitute teachers are an integral part of the collaborative school team.

Substitute Teacher Responsibilities: Follow lesson plans created by the teacher. If necessary, create his/her own lesson plans in accordance with the Alberta Education Programs of Study and the absent teacher’s unit plans and/or long range plans. Clear, concise communication with the absent teacher and school principal.

Adhere to the same roles and responsibilities as any other classroom teacher as defined by the Education Act and the Teaching Profession Act. Practice professionalism with all students, staff, administration, parents and public Is aware of GYPSD policies and administrative procedures Preparing educational materials. Bachelor of Education; Valid Alberta Teaching License; Ability to work in a multi-grade classroom is considered an asset.
