Lead parks maintenance crews for the City of Welland, coordinating outdoor operations, inspections, and safety compliance on afternoon shifts.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Park and Forestry, the Lead Hand coordinates general maintenance across parks, open spaces, cemeteries, trails, sports fields, and outdoor facilities. The position instructs employees, schedules work, responds to calls, and assesses follow-up needs. It also supports special events and winter activities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee crews performing parks maintenance activities
- Prioritize, schedule, and coordinate maintenance projects
- Inspect playgrounds, splashpads, trails, assets, and signage
- Coordinate special event setup and takedown
- Prepare daily reports and activity sheets

Requirements:

- Two-year diploma in horticulture, forestry, turf management, or related field
- Three years of practical Parks and Forestry experience
- Valid Class D Ontario licence with Z endorsement
- Current First Aid, CPR, and Book 7 certification
- Ability to lift 45 pounds and work outdoors
