Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Lead, Drafting & Estimating to drive improvements in quality and efficiency among our drafting and estimating teams, via identifying and executing process improvements. In this senior role, you will be responsible for both creating estimates and providing technical oversight and strategic guidance, ensuring all technical drawings and project estimates are of the highest quality, accuracy, and efficiency. You will act as the key technical expert, setting standards, resolving complex challenges, and coordinating with other departments to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

● Team Leadership & Oversight:

○ Lead and mentor the drafting and estimating teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

○ Establish and enforce quality control standards and best practices for all technical drawings and project bids.

○ Provide senior-level technical guidance and support to resolve complex design and estimating challenges.

○ Periodically Review and approve final drawings, estimates, and bills of materials to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.

○ Coordinate team workflows and project schedules to meet deadlines and optimize efficiency.

● Drafting & Design:

○ Oversee the creation, modification, and updating of technical drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD and Revit).

○ Interpret complex design sketches, specifications, and calculations from engineers and architects.

○ Develop drawing standards and templates to ensure consistency across all projects.





○ Act as the primary technical point of contact for external partners on complex design issues.

● Estimating & Analysis:

○ Provide strategic oversight for the review and analysis of architectural drawings and specifications to determine project scopes and create accurate bid estimates.

○ Ensure all bids are accurate and submitted on time for tender, with a focus on competitive and value-driven pricing.

○ Provide expert-level design and value engineering recommendations to architects and owners.

○ Collaborate with the sales team to develop and refine pricing strategies.

● Communication & Support:

○ Serve as the lead technical expert, articulating our wall panel and mounting systems to a range of professionals, including clients, engineers, and contractors.

○ Provide high-level technical consultation and support to clients and internal teams.

○ Liaise with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and project management, to ensure seamless project execution.

Qualifications & Skills:

● A college diploma or university degree in architecture, architectural technology, or a related field.

● A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in architectural drafting and estimating, with proven experience in a senior or leadership role.

● Expert proficiency in CAD software, specifically AutoCAD and Revit.

● Deep technical understanding of facades and cladding systems, their applications, and related materials.

● Extensive experience with the construction bidding and tender process.

● Exceptional ability to interpret complex architectural drawings, construction documents, and specifications.

● Strong knowledge of local Building Codes.

● Proficiency with Bluebeam and SigmaNest, takeoff software is highly preferred.

● Exceptional communication and leadership skills,



with a professional demeanor.

● Superior organizational skills and a strategic mindset.

● Fluency in English and French is an asset.

● Background in engineering.

● MBA required.

● Architectural background required.

● Estimating experience required.

- Ability to work in-person out of our corporate office 5 days a week
