Position: Kitchen Worker – Temporary Leave Coverage

Employment Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Hours: 7:15 a.m.–4:15 p.m. (8 hours with a 1-hour break)

Wage: $17.00 per hour

Employment Term:

Temporary position covering an employee's leave. The duration of the position is currently unknown and will depend on the length of the leave. There may be opportunities for continued casual or on-call employment following the completion of the temporary assignment.

Position Overview:

Boys and Girls Club of Yarmouth is seeking a reliable Kitchen Worker to provide temporary coverage for an employee's leave of absence. The successful candidate will assist with daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, meal service, and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen setting.

Duties:

- Assist with food preparation, including peeling, chopping, and light cooking tasks.
- Deliver meals and snacks to the learning environments in a timely manner.
- Handle food safely by following proper storage, handling, and sanitation procedures.
- Help maintain the cleanliness of kitchen areas, including washing dishes, sweeping,



and mopping at the end of the shift.
- Support inventory management by organizing supplies and ingredients and receiving the monthly delivery.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in food service, kitchen, or restaurant environments is an asset but not required.
- Knowledge of food preparation and food safety practices, including the ability to handle food safely and hygienically.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage time efficiently, and complete tasks within required timeframes.
- Willingness to learn and follow kitchen procedures.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, climb stairs regularly, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Register Check are required.
