Job Description
As a recruiter for one of North America's leading construction companies, you'll partner closely with Business HR and hiring leaders to understand workforce priorities, project requirements, and future talent needs across engineering, construction, and industrial operations.
This role requires more than strong recruiting fundamentals.
We're looking for someone who understands the construction and industrial talent landscape and can speak the language of the business.
You should be comfortable recruiting within project-driven environments and understand how workforce needs change based on project scope, location, schedule, mobilization, and phase of execution.
You'll bring market intelligence and recruitment expertise to develop targeted hiring strategies, build high-quality pipelines, and execute against hiring plans supporting both immediate project requirements and longer-term workforce needs.
This is a role for a recruiter who takes ownership, moves with urgency, anticipates hiring demand, and balances speed with quality.
You'll act as a trusted talent advisor to hiring leaders, helping them navigate competitive talent markets while delivering an exceptional candidate experience.
Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from intake and workforce planning through sourcing, assessment, offer, and hire.
Partner closely with hiring leaders and Business HR to understand project scope, workforce requirements, hiring priorities, timelines, and upcoming talent demand.
Proactively engage the external labour market to identify, attract, and build relationships with high-quality engineering, construction, industrial, and skilled trades talent.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for a mix of salaried/professional and craft/trades positions, supporting both immediate project requirements and future workforce demand.
Recruit across roles that may include project managers, superintendents, project coordinators, engineers, estimators, schedulers/project controls professionals, field leadership, safety professionals, and skilled trades/craft employees.
Build an understanding of the business and its projects in order to effectively assess candidates based on relevant industry, project, technical, field, and operational experience.
Understand the nuances of construction recruiting, including project-based hiring, remote/site-based work, rotational schedules, regional talent markets, workforce mobilization, and competition for specialized skill sets.
Build and maintain targeted talent pools for recurring and hard-to-fill construction and engineering positions.
Skills and Requirements
• 2-3+ years of full-cycle recruitment experience (ideally within construction, engineering, industrial, infrastructure, EPC/EPCM, energy, utilities, mining, or another project-driven environment)
• Demonstrated understanding of the construction/industrial industry and the talent required to execute complex projects.
• Ability to understand and differentiate construction disciplines and translate a hiring leader's project requirements into an effective recruiting strategy.
• Understanding of the realities of construction recruiting, including site-based work, remote locations, rotations, project mobilization, regional labour markets, and varying candidate availability.
• Strong sourcing expertise utilizing Linked
In Recruiter, talent mapping,
networking, referrals, database sourcing, and proactive outreach.
• Proven ability to develop talent pipelines for difficult-to-fill and recurring positions rather than relying solely on inbound applicants.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to connect recruitment strategy to project and operational workforce needs.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence hiring leaders at multiple levels of an organization.
• Advanced behavioural interviewing, candidate assessment, and selection skills.
• Highly organized and adaptable, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent searches and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working within Workday or a comparable applicant tracking system is preferred.
Experience recruiting a combination of engineering, construction management, field operations, skilled trades/craft, and/or salaried skilled positions.
