About Samee

Samee Metal Trading is a Hamilton-based, family-owned steel supply chain group. We trade flat-rolled steel for Canadian manufacturers, fabricators, and service centres, operate our own trucking fleet featuring flatbed and B-train equipment, and run steel warehousing and processing coordination from our 100,000-square-foot Hamilton headquarters. Our group also holds a growing industrial real estate portfolio across multiple entities.

As we scale toward $40 million to $50 million in revenue, fueled by new import programs and expanding property assets, capital allocation and debt financing have become central to our growth strategy.

The Role

As our Corporate Funding Manager, you will be our lender-facing finance skilled—owning every relationship where Samee asks for capital, from government grant programs to our bank operating lines, BDC facilities, and commercial property financing. Reporting directly to the President (who currently acts as CFO) and working alongside our Financial Controller and Vice President, you will translate internal accounting inputs into persuasive, approval-ready credit packages.

Requirements

Government Funding & Grants

- Build and curate the complete RTRI data room (payroll records, CRA remittances, financial statements, 12-to-24-month liquidity forecasts, tariff impact evidence, and project budgets).
- Confirm funding streams with program officers and submit the RTRI application within eight weeks of your start date.
- Post-approval, manage the contribution agreement, claims processing, payroll/employment reporting, and audit-ready records.
- Continuously track relevant federal and provincial funding programs (e.g., FedDev, IRAP, CanExport) and bring forward strategic opportunities.

Lender Relations & Credit Facilities

- Complete the BDC presentation and manage all ongoing data requests through to facility approval.
- Build credit cases for operating line increases leveraging the borrowing base and order book.

- Own the monthly lender reporting package alongside our Credit Manager (borrowing base certificates, covenant calculations, and receivables/inventory schedules).
- Maintain the master lender calendar: covenant test dates, facility renewals, annual reviews, and debt consent requirements.
- Coordinate bank treasury products, including foreign exchange (FX) hedging for international import payments.

Property & Portfolio Underwriting

- Build financial underwriting models for acquisitions, refinancing candidates, and dispositions across group real estate entities.
- Prepare lender packages for property financing: rent rolls, appraisals, Phase I environmental site assessments, title items, and debt schedules.
- Maintain the current-state corporate structure package: entity register, property and asset register, and capital/security schedules.

Data Room & Executive Reporting

- Own a centralized, "lender-ready" data room capable of being shared with any financial institution within 24 hours.
- Produce concise, persuasive summaries and narratives from the Controller's accounting records.
- Prepare ownership-level executive summaries covering facility capacity, utilization metrics, and upcoming financing needs.

Who We Are Looking For

- Anticipatory Lending Judgment: You think like a lender. Grants can be learned on the job, but knowing what a credit committee will ask before they ask it requires an intuition for risk and debt structure that can't be picked up overnight.
- Experience: 3 to 7 years in commercial lending: Hands-on experience as a Credit Analyst, Associate, or Account Manager across commercial, mid-market, or real estate lending.

- Development Banks: BDC or EDC Account Manager or Analyst.
- Real Estate: Commercial mortgage or commercial real estate (CRE) underwriting analyst.
- Corporate Treasury: Corporate Finance or Treasury Analyst at a distributor or manufacturer who managed the primary banking relationship.

Must-Have Qualifications:

- Hands-on Credit Execution: Proven experience building lender packages, borrowing base certificates, covenant reports, and underwriting models.
- Financial Statement Fluency: Ability to rebuild a cost or cash model directly from a trial balance.
- Deadline-Driven Communication: Clear, persuasive written communication tailored for credit committees and program officers.
- Owner-Operator Fit: High comfort working directly with an active President/owner-operator and taking complete end-to-end ownership of files.

Assets (Nice-to-Haves):

- Direct experience submitting government funding applications (FedDev Ontario, RTRI, IRAP, CanExport).
- Industry exposure in steel, manufacturing, logistics, or distribution.
- Trade finance exposure (letters of credit, import financing, FX forwards).
- Accounting/Finance designations or progress toward them (CPA, CFA).

Why Join Samee Metal Trading?

- Real Ownership & High Impact: Manage high-stakes files with immediate, tangible outcomes—a federal funding application, a BDC facility, operating line expansions, and property deals within your first year.
- Direct Access: Work directly alongside ownership on capital allocation rather than being removed through multiple corporate layers.
- Growth Stage: Join a profitable, scaling company at the exact pivot point where we are building out our corporate finance function.
- Total Compensation: Competitive base salary, milestone bonus on RTRI submission, approval bonuses tied to closed credit facilities, and comprehensive benefits.

Pay: $65,000.00 per year

Benefits:

- On-site parking
