Applications/Process Engineering

Applications/Process Engineers are the primary technical resource for the sales team and are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Applications/Process Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Applications/Process Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application.
- Listen, understand and convey customer requirements.
- Verifies customer’s project needs (regulatory, capacity, etc.)
- Evaluates and assists in the preliminary designs and costing of wastewater treatment equipment and make recommendations suitable for requested application design requests
- Provide design and specification development support to consultants, integrators, and distributors.
- Provides instruction to Engineering department for preliminary drafting requirements




- Works with Engineering department on project specifics to determine if detailed engineering is required prior to confirming design
- Prepare budget and bid costing and proposals
- Review external specifications, RFP’s and drawing packages for projects that are bidding
- Engage other departments (engineering, finance, operations) for department specific needs in tender/bid specifications
- Prepare bid documents including pre-qualification, costing and technical requirements
- Provide support to sales team during bidding process
- Manage bidding and proposal schedules and deadlines
- Maintain accurate records of opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence in company approved databases
- Maintain professional business relationships.
- Provides input to product feature enhancements and process improvements.
- Refine process design tools as required to increase accuracy and efficiency
- Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives.
- Provide support to research and development efforts
- Periodic travel required
- Other duties as reasonably required.

Required Qualifications/Abilities

- Work will be performed in the office at Nexom Inc.
- Degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental). Eligible for P.Eng.
- Two to five (2-5) years of experience in applications engineering specifically for water and wastewater treatment process equipment with emphasis on biological processes and nutrient removal,



or equivalent wastewater treatment experience gained in post-graduate studies.
- Knowledge of physical and chemical separation processes.
- Knowledge of bidding processes for municipal and industrial applications preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication including ability to complete complex RFQ requirements and to write papers for publications and trade journals.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Must be computer literate and have familiarity with word processing, database and spreadsheet software.
- Familiarity with CRM systems - Salesforce expertise a plus.
- Driver License required.
- Passport and ability to travel within Canada and the US required.
