Overview

**AFTERNOON SHIFT**
As a Structural Steel Fitter, you will play a vital role in assembling and installing steel structures with precision and skill. The successful candidate will be responsible for fitting and assembling steel beams, columns, plates, channels, angles, and other structural steel components according to engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and project specifications.

Responsibilities

- Read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings, shop drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Measure, mark, cut, fit, and assemble steel beams, columns, plates, channels, angles, and other structural components.
- Position and align steel members accurately using measuring tools, levels, squares, clamps, and other fitting equipment.
- Fit and tack-weld components prior to final welding.
- Prepare steel components for welding by cleaning, grinding, beveling, and adjusting surfaces as required.
- Install and fit base plates, brackets, connection plates, and other structural components.
- Check dimensions, squareness, alignment, level, and overall fit-up before welding.
- Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills,



cutting equipment, and other fabrication equipment safely.
- Perform drilling, cutting, grinding, and minor fabrication work as required.
- Identify dimensional or fabrication issues and report them to the supervisor or quality-control personnel.
- Ensure completed assemblies meet drawing requirements, dimensional tolerances, and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

- Proven experience in structural steel fitting, fabrication, or related construction roles
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (MIG/TIG), and plasma cutting tools
- Ability to read blueprints, and technical drawings accurately
- Knowledge of rigging techniques, crane operation safety procedures, and machining processes
- Familiarity with welding techniques including MIG welding standards
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations necessary during fabrication
- Experience with assembly of structural components in manufacturing or construction environments
