About InvestingNews.com
InvestingNews.com (INN) is a leading global financial media platform, connecting public companies with engaged retail and institutional investors. We operate at the intersection of capital markets, digital media, and performance marketing - helping companies raise visibility, drive investor demand, and execute high-impact campaigns across global markets.
Role Summary
The Business Development Representative is a hunter and closer, owning new business for INN from first contact through to the signed, executed deal.
This role exists to win new public company clients and grow revenue. It carries a quota and is measured on closed revenue against that quota.
This is a full cycle sales role. The BDR sources, qualifies, pitches, negotiates and closes their own deals, and stays accountable until the close is executed and the client is handed off for delivery.
Unlike a typical BDR role, this BDR owns the close. You book the meeting, run the deal and sign the client - and you earn the commission on every deal you close.
Core Mandate
- Hunt and win recent public company clients across North American and global markets
- Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, proposal, negotiation and close
- Carry and deliver against a defined revenue quota
- Own execution of the close: contract signed, terms confirmed, payment secured and a clean handoff to the campaign team
- Maintain clean, accurate pipeline and forecast data in Salesforce
Key Responsibilities
1.
New Business Development
- Build and work your own pipeline of target companies by industry, market cap and campaign fit
- Run outbound outreach across email, phone, LinkedIn and events
- Prospect and generate your own pipeline and new leads

2. Closing & Deal Execution
- Lead discovery calls with executives, IR teams and corporate development leads
- Build proposals and campaign packages from INN's product suite
- Negotiate commercial terms within approved pricing guidelines
- Drive every deal through to signed contract and confirmed payment
- Hand off closed accounts to the campaign team with complete deal notes
3. Pipeline & Forecasting
- Keep Salesforce updated with 100% activity, pipeline and forecast accuracy
- Report weekly pipeline and forecast to the Sales Director
4. Market Presence
- Represent INN at investor conferences and industry events
- Build referral relationships with IR firms, bankers and other capital markets contacts
Authority & Boundaries
This role has authority to:
- Own prospecting, pipeline and deal strategy for their accounts
- Own the sales cycle end to end, from first contact to executed close
- Negotiate custom packages within approved pricing guidelines
- Qualify and disqualify opportunities
This role does not own:
- Pricing or packaging decisions outside approved guidelines
- Campaign delivery and fulfilment after handoff

- Ability and experience generating your own leads in an entrepreneurial or employee role
- Familiarity with mining, commodities or resource sector companies
- An existing network of public company executives or IR contacts
Location & Travel

Performance Clause
There will be a 30, 60, and 90 day performance review assessing behaviours, pipeline and progress toward quota, and suggesting improvements or minor role adjustments to fit the individual and team needs.
