Bakery Operations Assistant - Night Shift

About the role

Planet Bread is a growing wholesale bakery looking for a reliable, motivated person to join our overnight team. We want someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys learning practical skills, and wants to build a long-term future with us.

This is a hands-on role combining bakery cleaning and sanitation, shipping and receiving, and general operational support. Cleaning will be a major part of your initial responsibilities. You will also help customers and drivers collect their orders, receive deliveries, and learn other bakery duties through training.

Responsibilities

- Clean and sanitize bakery equipment, production areas, floors, and storage spaces according to our cleaning procedures.
- Follow daily and periodic cleaning schedules and complete the associated records.
- Supervise customer and driver pickups, check orders, and maintain controlled access to the building.
- Receive deliveries, check quantities and condition, and place items in the appropriate storage areas.
- Help organize ingredients, packaging, bread racks, and supplies.
- Assist with order preparation, packing, and other bakery tasks as trained.
- Follow food safety and workplace safety procedures and report problems promptly.
- Learn additional duties as your skills develop and the bakery’s needs evolve.

Who we’re looking for

- Dependable and punctual, with reliable transportation for overnight hours.




- Comfortable with physical work, including cleaning, standing, and moving supplies.
- Able to follow instructions, check details, and keep accurate records.
- Willing to learn different tasks and help where needed.
- Able to work independently after training and communicate clearly with coworkers, customers, and drivers.
- Needs to be interested in taking on more responsibility over time.

Experience in food production, commercial cleaning, shipping and receiving, or a bakery is helpful, but not required. We are willing to train someone with a solid work ethic and a willingness to learn.

We will invest time in teaching you our processes and helping you develop your skills. As you gain experience and demonstrate reliability, initiative, and good judgment, there may be opportunities to learn production work, train new employees, and progress into a lead or supervisory role.

Schedule

Approximately 2 a.m.–10 a.m., six days per week. Applicants must be available for this overnight and early-morning schedule.
