Job Overview:
We are seeking hardworking and reliable individuals to join our team as Asbestos Abatement and Demolition Laborers. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe removal of asbestos containing materials and the demolition of structures according to strict safety and environmental regulations. This is a physically demanding position that requires attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work well in a team.
Responsibilities:
- Asbestos Abatement: Set up containment areas (poly sheeting, negative air machines, decontamination chambers) to prevent the spread of fibers.
- Removal: Safely remove asbestos containing materials (ACM) such as pipe insulation, floor tiles, drywall and siding using hand tools and wet methods.
- Demolition: Perform manual demolition of interior and exterior structures, including removing drywall, flooring, ceilings, and framing.
- Safety Compliance: Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), including Full Face/Half Face respirators, Tyvek suits, and gloves.
- Cleanup: Properly bag and dispose of hazardous waste in designated containers. Perform final cleaning of the work area (HEPA vacuuming and wet wiping).
- Site Prep: Load and unload materials,
set up scaffolding, and erect barriers.
- Equipment: Operate hand and power tools (saws, hammers, etc.) safely and effectively.
Requirements:
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50+ lbs continuously, stand for long periods, and work in confined spaces or extreme temperatures.
- Certifications (Preferred but not required): WorkSafe BC Asbestos Certification Level 2 or Level 3
- Reliability: Must have reliable transportation to and from various job sites.
- Background: Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
- Attire: Must be willing to wear required PPE and adhere to strict hygiene protocols (showering on-site when required).
Work Setting:
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
- Candidates must be comfortable working in dirty, dusty, and potentially hazardous environments.
- Travel to different job sites may be required.
Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
Experience:
- Asbestos abatement: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
- WorkSafe BC Asbestos Certification (preferred)
