About us
Motion Steel is a structural steel fabricator and erector based in Calgary, part of the Cyntech Group. We do drafting, shop fabrication and field erection in-house on institutional, infrastructure and commercial projects like commercial buildings, churches, schools, water treatment plants, multi-family residential buildings, etc.
We are hiring ironworkers at all levels for our structural and miscellaneous erection team.

Ninety-five percent of our work is in Calgary, with the occasional project in surrounding communities, so you'll sleep in your own bed every night. We are non-union and have always had twelve months per year of steady work. Overtime is optional but usually available for those who want it.
What you will do
- Erect structural and miscellaneous steel on commercial, infrastructure and institutional projects
- Rig, hoist, land and connect steel safely
- Read and work from erection drawings
- Bolt up, plumb, weld and burn as required
- Field modification and repair work
- Work alongside experienced ironworkers who will teach you the trade properly, or, if you are already highly experienced, mentor the next generation.
What we are looking for
- Solid fabrication and erection experience. A journeyman ticket is an asset but is not required. If you can do the work we want to talk to you
- Apprentices and registered apprentices are welcome. We support apprenticeship and want to see you get your ticket
- CWB qualification is an asset for field welding work
- Fall protection, CSTS and aerial work platform training, or willingness to obtain (the company pays)
- Reliable, on time, and someone other people want on their crew
