Iron Horse Security is looking for reliable, skilled, and experienced Security Guards to join our team at an active construction site in Downtown Ottawa.

We are seeking dependable individuals who can maintain a strong security presence, monitor site access, conduct patrols, and ensure the safety and security of personnel, contractors, equipment, and property.

IMPORTANT – MANDATORY AVAILABILITY & RELIABILITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants MUST meet both of the following conditions:

1. Availability Requirements

- Must have full availability for both day shifts (5:30 AM – 5:30 PM) and overnight shifts (5:30 PM – 5:30 AM).
- Must be able to commit to working at least four (4) days per week.
- Must be flexible to work either shift, as assignments will be determined based on business and operational requirements.
- Must demonstrate consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability.

2. Reliability Clearance Requirements

Applicants MUST currently hold valid Reliability Clearance OR be eligible and willing to obtain it.

If you do not currently hold Reliability Status, please confirm whether you meet the following screening criteria and are willing to complete the clearance process:

- Have maintained a Canadian residential address for the past five (5) consecutive years.
- Have no criminal record.
- Be willing to undergo the required background screening and security clearance process.

Requirements

- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence – Mandatory
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification – Mandatory
- Existing Reliability Clearance OR eligibility to obtain one – Mandatory
- Minimum availability of four (4) days per week – Mandatory
- Full availability for both 12-hour day and overnight shifts – Mandatory
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal – Mandatory
- Previous security experience, preferably at construction sites, is an asset.
- Strong reliability, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently and follow site-specific security procedures.




- Comfortable working outdoors and in an active construction environment.
- Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout 12-hour shifts.
- Strong observation, reporting, and incident documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with contractors, construction personnel, visitors, supervisors, and management.
- French language skills are an asset but not required.

Important: There is no free parking available at the site. Candidates must arrange their own transportation and reliably report to work for their scheduled shifts, including early morning and overnight hours.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide professional security coverage at an active construction site in Ottawa.
- Monitor and control access to the construction site, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors are permitted entry.
- Verify identification and maintain accurate records of contractors, employees, visitors, and deliveries.
- Conduct regular foot patrols throughout designated construction areas.
- Monitor site entrances, exits, security gates, and designated guard stations.
- Observe and report suspicious activities, unauthorized access, safety concerns, and security breaches.
- Monitor contractor and delivery activity, ensuring compliance with site access procedures.
- Maintain accurate daily activity logs, incident reports, and security documentation.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies, alarms, and site-related incidents.
- Communicate effectively with construction personnel, contractors, supervisors, and management.




- Follow all site-specific post orders, emergency procedures, and security protocols.
- Maintain a professional presence and exercise sound judgment when dealing with unexpected situations.
- Remain attentive and vigilant throughout assigned shifts.
- Follow all Iron Horse policies, client requirements, and site procedures.
