Seeking overnight in-home caregiver for Sundays (9 pm to 8 am on Monday) and Thursdays (9 pm to 8 am Friday) with at least 2 years of caregiving experience related to seniors with dementia and relevant diploma/degree. To care for our elderly dad.
Responsibilities
Caring for our dad who has moderate dementia. Other duties: Administer meds, change clothing, light housekeeping duties, prepare meals, personal hygiene (including helping with shower or cleaning genitals, using barrier cream to prevent diaper rash and bed sores, etc.) First Aid and CPR. Criminal check required. Canadian citizen/PR or work visa applicants.
Experience
- At least 2 years of related experience preferred.
- Work experience with seniors who have dementia.
- Able to manage sexually inappropriate behavior (caused by the dementia)
- Able to manage aggression (caused by the dementia)
- Experience in medication administration and patient care
- Light lifting and maneuvering of wheelchair, some kneeling and bending down.
Work hours: Sundays 9 pm to 8 am, and Thursdays 9 pm to 8 am. Hours may increase if candidate is suitable. Location: In-home care in Vancouver near UBC (V6L postal code).
Compensation: $28/hr. Overtime pay (1.5x) after 8 hours. On payroll (deduct CPP, EI and income taxes), and NOT cash (not negotiable). Looking for commitment of at least one year or more. Cantonese language an asset. Submit resume.
