EXPERIENCED COMMERCIAL ROOFING ESTIMATOR – RECENT CONSTRUCTION

Albatross Roofing Ltd. is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Commercial Roofing Estimator to estimate and bid new construction commercial roofing projects throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas.

COMMERCIAL ROOFING ESTIMATING EXPERIENCE IS MANDATORY. This is not an entry-level position. The successful candidate must be able to prepare estimates independently and attend required pre-bid site meetings and walkthroughs.

Position Details

· Full-time employment

· Primarily work from home, with attendance at required pre-bid site meetings and walkthroughs. Office space available.

· Compensation: $70,000-$90,000/year salary; arrangement is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

· Seek out projects and bidding opportunities.

· Prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids for new construction commercial roofing projects

· Review architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications, and tender documents.

· Complete material and labour takeoffs and calculate costs for roofing systems, insulation, membranes, sheet metal, accessories, equipment, and labour.

· Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing.

· Attend pre-bid site meetings and walkthroughs to assess site conditions, access, scope details, and potential project challenges.

· Communicate with general contractors, consultants, suppliers, and project representatives to clarify tender requirements.

· Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, and potential cost impacts; prepare and submit tender packages before deadlines.

· Track bids,



maintain organized estimating records, and assist with project handoffs when work is awarded.

Mandatory Qualifications

· Proven hands-on experience as a commercial roofing estimator, including new construction projects.

· Strong knowledge of commercial flat roofing systems such as TPO, EPDM, SBS modified bitumen, and insulation assemblies.

· Ability to read construction drawings and specifications and complete accurate material takeoffs, labour calculations, and project costing.

· Experience preparing and submitting competitive commercial construction bids and working with tender portals.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and relevant estimating software.

· Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills; able to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

· Ability and willingness to attend pre-bid site meetings and site walkthroughs as required.
