Country Market Barista

Role Summary
Reporting to the Food and Beverage leadership team, this position is responsible for preparing hot beverages and serving light food, along with selling retail gift shop items. The Country Market Barista creates a warm and welcoming environment by providing personalized service, anticipating guest needs, and sharing knowledge of resort offerings and the local area.

Accountabilities

- Prepare and serve hot beverages (coffee, latte, espresso, teas) using an industrial espresso machine, ensuring beverages are prepared and presented according to established standards
- Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact and a warm verbal greeting, using the guest’s name when possible
- Engage guests in a natural and personalized manner, recognizing individual preferences and anticipating needs whenever possible
- Demonstrate knowledge of beverage and light food offerings and provide recommendations based on guest preferences
- Assist guests with purchases such as clothing, souvenirs, and small gift items, offering thoughtful and personalized recommendations when appropriate
- Conduct inventory on a monthly basis to report accurate stock levels
- Handle cash, debit and credit transactions accurately and efficiently using the point of sale system
- Have a deep knowledge of the local area, resort activities, amenities and services in order to confidently answer guest questions and provide personalized recommendations
- Provide attentive guest service and assist guests with their purchases, taking ownership of requests and ensuring each interaction is handled with genuine care




- Anticipate guest needs and offer additional assistance before being asked whenever appropriate
- Respond to guest questions or concerns promptly and professionally, seeking assistance when necessary to ensure an effective resolution
- Maintain retail displays, service areas and merchandise in a clean, organized and visually appealing manner
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures and ensuring the Country Market is consistently guest-ready
- Maintain professional grooming, body language and communication while providing gracious, discreet and attentive service
- Work collaboratively with fellow associates and other resort departments to create a seamless guest experience
- Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
- Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements

- Previous experience in a retail or coffee shop environment an asset
- Previous customer service experience an asset
- Cash handling experience required, including the use of computerized systems (ie debit, credit card, computer)
- Strong communication skills with a warm, professional and welcoming approach to guest service




- Robust attention to detail and the ability to recognize and anticipate guest needs

Working Conditions

- Must be able to work flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
- Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
- Move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces
