Lead production at Nova Scotia’s largest winery.

Venor is proud to partner with Jost Vineyards to hire a hands-on Production Supervisor. Jost has been a pioneer of the province’s wine industry since 1983 and produces award-winning Nova Scotia wines from its home on the North Shore in Malagash. In this role, you’ll lead the production team and report to the Director of Operations.

Position Overview

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll lead a team of four production staff and oversee daily bottling, bagging, and canning operations, from equipment setup and startup through to shutdown.

If you enjoy dialling in equipment and solving technical problems, the canning line is where you’ll shine. It’s the most technical part of the operation, and you’ll be the go-to person for setting it up and adjusting each run based on can pressure, oxygen levels, and the wine’s temperature and acidity.

Just as important, you’ll train and cross-train the team so that knowledge is shared and production keeps running smoothly, even when you’re not on the floor. You’ll also have real input into how production runs, with room to improve both efficiency and product quality.

What You’ll Do

- Lead, train, and support a team of four production staff, assigning daily tasks and building skills across the team.
- Set up, start up, and shut down the bottling, bagging, and canning lines, including cleaning and equipment preparation.
- Run the canning line and adjust settings from run to run based on pressure, oxygen, and product specs.
- Monitor quality during production, carry out inspections and tests,



and resolve issues as they come up.
- Handle minor equipment troubleshooting, working with the in-house maintenance team on larger repairs.
- Monitor inventory of raw materials and packaging supplies and coordinate replenishment with procurement.
- Ensure production follows health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards, and support regular safety training.
- Keep accurate production records, including batch logs, quality control records, and inventory data.
- Bring forward ideas to improve production efficiency and product quality.

What You Bring

- Hands-on experience in a production or packaging environment, including training and mentoring.
- Experience with canning equipment (winery, brewery, beverage, or similar) is a strong asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
- Experience using technology to assess production data is an asset.

This role involves lifting and moving heavy objects (50+ lbs.) and being on your feet throughout the day.
