BDS is growing and expanding. With upcoming project work and a diverse heavy haul fleet, we are looking for a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team.

BDS provides heavy haul and specialized transportation services throughout Canada and the United States. Our fleet includes highway tractors, winch trucks, lowbeds, multi-axle combinations, and specialized perimeter frame trailers.

The Position

Based out of our Acheson shop, you will inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair trucks, trailers, and specialized transportation equipment. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, troubleshoots effectively, and helps keep our fleet protected, reliable, and ready for dispatch.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air system issues.
- Complete preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on trucks and trailers.
- Troubleshoot engines, drivetrains, brakes, suspension, steering, and related components.
- Maintain specialized trailer systems, including hydraulic steering and suspension.
- Identify defects and communicate repair priorities, parts requirements, and equipment availability to the Shop Manager.
- Complete accurate work orders and maintenance records.
- Follow safe work procedures and maintain an organized work area.
- Work closely with drivers, dispatch, and the shop team to address equipment concerns and reduce downtime.

Qualifications





- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician certification applicable to truck and transport or equivalent recognized certification.
- Experience maintaining and repairing heavy trucks and trailers.
- Strong diagnostic skills and experience using electronic diagnostic tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, quality repairs.
- Valid driver’s licence.

The Following Are Assets

- Red Seal endorsement.
- Experience with heavy haul equipment, winch trucks, and multi-axle trailers.
- Experience with perimeter frame trailers, hydraulic steering, and specialized suspension systems.
- CVIP inspection qualifications.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Class 1 driver’s licence.
