Our employment partner is a Canadian grocery retailer specializing in South Asian, Middle Eastern, and international food products, including halal meat, fresh produce, groceries, and specialty items. The company serves diverse communities across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Job Overview

The Meat Clerk will ensure picture-perfect presentation of our pre-packaged and freshly cut meat products. They must also frequently interact with customers in need of assistance and are responsible for ensuring that the meat department and cooler are kept sanitary

Job Duties

- Provides premier customer service, including greeting customers and answering their questions.
- Rotates product within date and properly displays it.
- Sells products by providing customers with information needed to make product-related decisions.
- Verifies ad prices, hangs current sale signs, and removes out-of-date sale signs.
- Unloads trucks and verifies deliveries.




- Performs routine price changes on lunch meat and cheese products.
- Cleans butcher/meat department and meat cooler to ensures that butcher/meat department and meat cooler are hygienic.
- Sets up displays.
- Complies with sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Operates pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, and compactor.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- Ability to lift and/or move to 23kg or 50 lbs.
- Arabic language proficiency preferred
- Ability to stand for eight hours.
- Needs to possess steel-toed safety boots and work in a safe manner in accordance with company policies.

Working Conditions:

- Able to work in cold food areas
- Able to work versatile shifts, including weekends.

These associates perform their duties primarily at the cases and in the meat cooler. They are exposed to various temperature changes and work environments. Work involves walking; lifting, moving, carrying, and shelving product; and frequently interacting with customers, fellow associates, truck drivers, and vendors.
