Construction Lead Hand / Working Foreman

Century Renovations – Kingston, Ontario

Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Pay: $30–$37/hour, depending on experience and capabilities
Location: Kingston and surrounding areas

About Us

Century Renovations is a growing residential construction and renovation company based in Kingston, Ontario. We handle a wide variety of projects, including interior and exterior renovations, framing, siding, decks, structural work, and general property improvements.

We're a small, hands-on company that takes pride in quality workmanship, efficiency, and finding practical solutions to construction challenges.

We're looking for an experienced Construction Lead Hand / Working Foreman who can take ownership of day-to-day operations on a job site while working alongside the crew.

Responsibilities

This is primarily a hands-on construction position with additional leadership and organizational responsibilities.

- Perform skilled carpentry and general renovation work, including framing, roofing, siding, decks, doors, windows, interior finishing, and other residential construction tasks.
- Lead and coordinate a small crew of approximately 2–6 workers.
- Organize daily tasks, delegate work, and ensure employees are working productively.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, measurements, and project specifications.
- Plan ahead to identify required materials, tools, equipment, and upcoming work.
- Troubleshoot unexpected site conditions and find practical solutions.
- Maintain quality control and ensure work is completed correctly.

- Ensure safe working practices and maintain a clean, organized job site.
- Communicate regularly with the owner regarding progress, material requirements, scheduling, and potential problems.
- Complete basic daily reporting, including progress updates, photos, and safety documentation.
- Assist with training and supervising less-experienced employees.

Qualifications

Required:

- Minimum 5 years of relevant residential renovation experience (not just new build)
- Strong carpentry skills, particularly framing and general residential construction.
- Experience leading or supervising other workers.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions on-site.
- Ability to read drawings, plan work, and accurately measure and lay out projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and a qualified attitude.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Comfortable using smartphones for timesheets, job documentation, and communication.

Assets:

- Broad experience across multiple construction trades.
- Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, and other construction equipment.
- Experience with concrete, foundations, structural repairs,

and exterior renovations.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and material deliveries.
- Carpentry apprenticeship or trade certification.

A Red Seal certification is not required. Practical experience, capability, and reliability are more important to us than formal credentials.

What We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate is someone who:

- Takes pride in their work and doesn't need constant direction.
- Can see what needs to be done next and keep the crew productive.
- Understands the importance of completing projects efficiently without sacrificing quality.
- Is comfortable taking responsibility while also working physically alongside the crew.
- Communicates problems early instead of allowing them to become larger issues.
- Can handle a variety of projects rather than specializing in just one aspect of construction.

What We Offer

- Competitive hourly compensation based on experience.
- Full-time, year-round employment.
- A wide variety of projects and challenging work.
- Opportunity for increased responsibility and compensation.
- A small team environment with direct communication with the owner.
- Access to company tools and equipment.

How to Apply

Please send a resume or a brief description of your construction experience, including the types of projects you've worked on and any experience leading a crew.
