Title: Security Guard

Employment Type: Full-Time

Pay Rate: $19.10/hr

Site: North York General Hospital Finch

Schedule: Continental Rotation (0700-1900 / 1900-0700)

Overtime Methodology: Averaging Agreement after 88 hours

North York General Hospital Finch is a respected community hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. The site delivers high-quality healthcare across emergency, surgical, and specialized services, supporting patient well-being and advancing care through research and education.

What You'll Be Doing

- Conduct regular patrols of hospital premises, including hallways, patient areas, entrances, exits, and parking lots.

- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly to suspicious activity or safety concerns.

- Manage access control points, ensuring restricted areas are limited to authorized personnel.

- Respond quickly during site emergencies, fire alarms, and evacuations, providing support to hospital staff and visitors.

- Greet patients, visitors, and staff, offering clear directions and helping maintain hospital policies.

- De-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts with a calm and skilled demeanor.

- Write accurate incident reports and complete daily logs of site activities.

- Collaborate with hospital staff and local emergency services to maintain a safe environment.

Must Haves

- Valid Ontario Security Guard License

- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C certification

- Valid G Class driver's license

- Legal authorization to work in Canada

- Fluency in English (oral and written)

- Up-to-date immunization records (Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and a 2-step TB skin test)

- Ability to be clean-shaven for N95 mask fit testing

- Valid Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certifications, or willingness to complete Paladin's pre-employment training prior to onboarding

Nice-to-Haves





- One year of prior security or law enforcement experience

- Diploma or degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services
