Job Description

Carsa Construction Ltd. is a construction company working on various types of residential and commercial construction projects including new home construction, renovations, and commercial remodeling. We are seeking a dedicated member to join our team, contributing to the successful completion of our projects.

Job Location

We work in various locations around the Greater Victoria Area. Primarily in Oak Bay and Saanich.

Primary Responsibilities

+ Supervise and lead 1-3 laborers, apprentices, carpenters.

+ First contact to open job site for skilled trades people. Communicate daily tasks for the crew.

+ Perform advance carpentry tasks: Framing, back framing, walls, floor systems, fences, decks, form work, cribbing. At times finishing carpentry, installing and checking work, etc.

+ Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, scopes, sketches, change orders.

+ Layout work, measure, stake, mark-up, verify alignments.

+ Preparing a materials list and ensuring materials and tools are available when required.

+ Picking up supplies and tools and transporting them to jobsites. Returning supplies and tools as required.

+ Loading and unloading construction materials, equipment, and tools from trucks and trailers.

+ Erecting and dismantling temporary structures as needed such as concrete forms and fencing.

+ Ensure quality control: inspect the work done by crew members, correct defects.

+ Ability to follow project schedules and deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks.

+ Following and communicating safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

+ Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and address any issues that may arise.

+ Ensuring jobsite cleanliness and tool tracking.

+ Operating and maintaining hand and power tools.

+ Demolition.





+ Assisting with the preparation of construction sites by clearing debris, digging trenches, and leveling the ground.

Compensation

$33-$42 per hour depending on your experience and ability

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in residential carpentry/construction.
- 1-3 years experience supervising or a crew leading role (leading 2-5 people).
- Broad experience in both rough carpentry and finishing carpentry an asset.
- Proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, shop plans, sketches, cut lists, scope of work changes, etc.
- You have working knowledge about other building aspects such as mechanical, electrical and plumbing interfaces.
- This job is hands on. Physical capability: lifting, working at heights, bending, working in weather, etc., at times repeatedly.
- Strong work ethic, ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation to and from multiple job sites. Ability to transport materials an asset.
- Proficiency in operating hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to meet with project managers, deal with subcontractors. Role may include training new staff.
- Punctual. Must be energetic and willing to grow with our company.
- Must own steel toe boots and a tool belt with basic hand tools.
- Level 1 first aid.

Vacation pay will be made available after 90-day employment probation.

Vehicle/Fuel allowance considered if vehicle provide work related tasks such as delivery of materials and equipment to and from job sites e.g. Pick-up truck.

Training requests will be considered and offered. Dependent on interest and need.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.00-$42.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
