COMPANY DESCRIPTION: We are a deluxe dog grooming facility located in the SW inner city of Calgary, Alberta. ROXY ROVER PET SPAW is looking for an awesome Dog Groomer to join our small, but very busy and well-established family-run business. Our Spaw has a grooming area and a separate bathing & drying area. We are a tight knit group who likes to have fun! Our location is in a strip center with ample parking and a bus stop less than an a 100m walk.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a passionate and caring individual who is committed to the welfare of all dogs that come into our care. You MUST be confident in grooming dogs of all sizes, age and temperaments. Additionally, you have at least 2 years of experience with a Dog Grooming Certification (preferred) and are amazing at customer service. You provide top-notch grooming practices, as per Roxy Rover Pet Spaw’s standards. Furthermore, you are a team player and will help in any capacity you can – whether it is to help a fellow groomer, check in dogs, answer the phone and book appointments.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Meet and greet your clients and their dogs. Able to confidently discuss grooming requests including style of cut and or/breed cut.

- Able to confidently explain to a client when a certain cut is not feasible (based on matting, etc.) and what can be done properly and expertly for the dog during their scheduled appointment.

- Treat all clients and dogs with respect and provide a loving, nurturing, and respectful attitude at all times.

- Must be able to assess the dog’s behavior before and during the dog’s grooming appointment and report any issues to owner before or during the grooming appointment.

- Must be able to recognize signs of neglect and/or abuse and report to owner along with any other behavioral issues.

- Must be able to rough in (if necessary), bathe and dry the dog in your care prior to grooming the dog.





- Should the dog in your care defecate or urinate in the Spaw, it is your responsibility to clean up after the dog and maintain all cleanliness standards.

- Must have excellent computer skills and confidently be able to learn our scheduling software Gingr in order to confidently check-in and check-out our clients using our POS system.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- High School Diploma

- No less than 2 years of Dog Grooming experience with Certification (Preferred)

- Must have your own grooming equipment and attire: scrubs, scissors, clippers, clipper blades, brushes and combs. (All shampoo and conditioners provided)

- Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to deal with difficult clients

- Strong conflict resolution skills

- Must know various dog breeds, temperament, and all breed standard cuts

- Must be able to complete all grooms independently from start to finish

- Must be able to groom 4-6 grooms per day

* Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

* Ensure that grooming table and all grooming equipment (scissors) are sanitized between grooms

* Must be able to work in a very quick paced environment where your time management skills are used effectively daily

- Must be a team player, someone that cares about not only the dogs in their care, but the team they work with and willing to help out in any capacity necessary

* Must be willing to do walk-in nail trims, sanitary trims, anal gland expression and face trims.

- Excellent communication, and organization skills.

- You must be good at working under pressure, think proactively and have a mature attitude

- Compensation ranges from $25 – $40 per hour including tips and 4% vacation pay
