Commercial Flooring Estimator/Project Manager

As one of Kitchener/Waterloo time-honored and respected flooring companies. We are currently looking for an ambitious individual to join our team. We have built our reputation on delivering projects on time and with the highest quality workmanship. The successful candidate will provide and coordinate full estimating services on large, complex work.

The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing bid documents and specifications, creating take-offs, quantifying and qualifying all material quantities for precise and accurate bid proposals.

The applicant must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Measure floor plans/read of blue prints
- Interpreting contracts and specifications. Confer with architects, designers and owners, on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Use of estimating software to Complete accurate take-offs
- Obtain information necessary to fulfill job function such as product information, job statuses and material ETA’s




- Development of appropriate estimate structure
- Being disciplined in estimating procedures including document and addenda control.
- Obtain new lead contacts

REQUIREMENTS

Skills Required – Technical

- Flooring construction knowledge
- Proficiency in computerized estimating systems and other common programs such as Microsoft Office suite

Skills Required – Non-Technical

- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts, plus the ability to coordinate and supervise sub-contractors
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and written
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a rapid-paced environment
- Self-starter requiring limited supervision
- Team player
- Positive attitude

Successful estimating experience within the flooring industry considered an asset
