Role Description This full-time, on-site Seamstress role is based at Prostitch Alterations in Nanaimo, BC. The Seamstress will perform garment alterations and repairs, including hemming, resizing, adjusting seams, and modifying designs to achieve a tailored fit. Daily tasks include measuring and fitting clients, marking garments, operating sewing equipment, and ensuring high-quality finishes on all work. The role involves direct interaction with customers to discuss alteration options, timelines, and pricing,



while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The Seamstress will collaborate with the team to manage workload, meet deadlines, and uphold the shop’s standards of craftsmanship and service.

Qualifications

- Strong garment construction and alteration skills, including dressmaking and tailoring.
- Proficiency in fittings and measurements, with the ability to assess and adjust garments for optimal fit.
- Effective communication and customer service skills for interacting with a diverse customer base.
- Experience using industrial and domestic sewing machines, sergers, and related tools.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and pride in workmanship.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in an alterations shop or tailoring environment is an asset.
- Willingness to work scheduled
