About the Role:

The Senior Buyer is responsible for the tactical procurement of commodities, supplies, equipment, and services to be used by the organization. The Senior Buyer coordinates his or her efforts with the production team and senior management in order to maintain the appropriate level of inventory. This individual will utilize expert knowledge to purchase goods and services at the most favorable price for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers. The Senior Buyer will assist with overseeing the daily activities of the department.

Responsibilities:

1. Procure and place orders for goods, materials, and services for the organization in a timely and cost-effective manner.
2. Research and survey buying markets in order to source the most optimal suppliers, in accordance with corporate objectives.
3. Coordinate all purchases with inventory/purchasing managers to ensure rapid delivery and reception of goods and/or services.
4. Receive delivery of ordered supplies and verify shipment contents for accuracy, condition, and quantity.
5. Prepare and administer bids, requests for quote, requests for proposal, requests for information, and other vendor documentation.
6. Manage service level agreements, scope of work,



and contract terms with service providers.
7. Advise departments and business units of lead time required to obtain products or services.
8. Make recommendations and suggest options to Purchasing Management regarding expected or unexpected material shortages.
9. Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization.
10. Adhere to and enforce compliance with purchasing policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

Education:

Post Secondary Education.

Skills / Requirements:

1. Experience of 3-5 years in Procurement.
2. MRP Experience.
3. Strong Excel Skills.
4. Ability to communicate with vendors in a highly qualified manner.
5. Strong knowledge of internal controls and finance management.
6. Thorough knowledge of ERP software systems and data entry.
7. Sound judgement and shrewd decision-making skills.
8. Ability to work with little or no supervision.
9. Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
10. Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanour.
11. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada on an ongoing basis without employer sponsorship.

Working Conditions:

1. Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
2. Overtime as required.
