Position Summary

Northern Auxiliary Services is seeking an experienced and dependable Team Lead, Janitorial Operations to oversee janitorial teams and service delivery across multiple client locations throughout the Northwest Territories. The successful candidate will be based in Fort Simpson and must be willing and able to travel frequently to remote communities. The Team Lead will supervise staff, coordinate daily operations, maintain quality standards, ensure workplace safety compliance, and support positive client relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the activities of janitorial staff.
- Assign work duties and prepare employee schedules.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Train staff in cleaning techniques, equipment operation, workplace safety, and company procedures.
- Recommend and participate in hiring, onboarding, discipline, and performance management activities.




- Resolve workplace issues and provide coaching and guidance to staff.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and order cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Maintain records related to staffing, inspections, inventory, and service delivery.
- Communicate with clients to address concerns and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Participate in janitorial duties when operationally required.
- Travel to various communities throughout the Northwest Territories to oversee operations, conduct site inspections, and support staff.

Employment Requirements

Education

- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.

Experience

- Minimum two (2) years of experience in janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, facilities maintenance, or related cleaning services.
- Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or team leadership experience.

Skills and Abilities

Additional Requirements

- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check.
- Ability to travel frequently throughout the Northwest Territories.
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg and perform physical work.

Language of Work

- English required.
- French language skills are considered a strong asset.

Northern Auxiliary Services welcomes qualified French-speaking applicants. Eligible candidates may be considered through Canada's Mobilité Francophone program for positions located outside Quebec.

Compensation and Advantages

Vacation

- Employees are entitled to two (2) weeks of paid vacation annually.
- Vacation pay accrues at 4% of gross wages earned, consistent with minimum employment standards requirements.
- Vacation dates will be scheduled at times mutually agreed upon by the employee and Northern Auxiliary Services, taking operational requirements into consideration.
- Accrued vacation pay will be paid out in accordance with applicable employment standards upon termination of employment.

Sick Leave

- Employees are eligible for up to five (5) paid sick days per calendar year, subject to applicable Northwest Territories employment standards and eligibility requirements.
- Employees may be required to provide reasonable notice or supporting documentation for extended absences where permitted by law.
