Position Summary
As an affiliate of Southern Health–Santé Sud (SH SS), Eden Mental Health Centre is seeking a full time Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist at Eden Mental Health Centre in Winkler, Manitoba. Start date is flexible, with positions available immediately.
You will join a collaborative team of twelve General Adult Psychiatrists in a busy, well supported clinical and hospital setting. The role includes inpatient hospital work and opportunities for outpatient work.
Practice Ready Assessment ( PRA ) applicants will be considered, pending acceptance into the PRA Specialty program, for a 24-month term with an option to extend.

Call Responsibilities
• Approximately 1 in 6 home call
• Coverage for Eden Mental Health Centre and Southern Health–Santé Sud Crisis Stabilization Unit

About Eden Mental Health Centre
EMHC is a standalone psychiatric hospital in Winkler, MB, located minutes away from a busy regional general hospital. Since it’s opening as an independently owned healthcare facility in 1967, it has been contracted to provide psychiatric services to the region, while gradually shifting away from long-term care and becoming an acute inpatient unit with an active outpatient department in order to meet the demands of a growing region (230,000+ population).
Staff psychiatrists are hired as independent contractors with EMHC and use a mixed remuneration model of fee-for-service billing and contract hours, resulting in a competitive pay structure.

Hospital Services Include:
• 25-bed adult inpatient unit with three high obs/seclusion rooms and on-site security staff
• Interventional psychiatry services include inpatient ECT ,



with plans to develop rTMS and IV Ketamine programs underway
• Inpatient services include clinical psychology, occupational therapy, social work, recreation and music therapy, and a house medical officer (family physician)
• Outpatient services include general adult consultations, seniors consultation service, and support for the community mental health program including Intensive Case Management of severe and persistent mental disorders
• Outpatient services are provided at multiple locations throughout the region with satellite offices in Portage La Prairie, Steinbach, and Winnipeg
• On-call services are 24/7 to support the inpatient unit and provide emergency room consultations for possible admission, though after-hours and nighttime calls are rare

Qualifications
• Doctor of Medicine with postgraduate training in Psychiatry
• Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada
• Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba
• CMPA membership (or equivalent malpractice coverage)
• Ability to work in team environment, strong communication skills, and respect for colleagues is essential
• Commitment to confidentiality and professional conduct
• Strong work and attendance record
