Prepare nourishing meals for residents, guests, and employees as a part time Cook with Extendicare. Apply food safety expertise and therapeutic diet knowledge.

Reporting to the Director of Culinary Services or Dietary Manager, the Cook prepares and delivers foods in a long-term care setting. You will review menus, follow production sheets, and serve meals attractively. The position requires large-quantity preparation, food handling, temperature auditing, and knowledge of special diets. You will also support menu substitutions, scheduled meal service, and dietary department procedures.

• Review menus and production sheets before meal preparation
• Prepare and serve therapeutic and specialty diets
• Complete temperature audits for refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms
• Follow standardized recipes, production charts, and composite menus

Requirements:

• Food Handlers Certificate required
• Experience preparing large quantities of food
• Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets
• Physical ability to lift and transfer heavy, hot items
• Current Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one
