Prepare patient meals at Port Hardy Hospital using roasting, frying, grilling, steaming, poaching, boiling, and baking methods. This is a casual position.

Under the direction of the Manager or designate, the Cook I prepares food items and supports meal service in kitchen and patient areas. Duties include setting up trays, portioning food, delivering and collecting meal service wagons, operating the dishwashing machine, and cleaning. Patient safety and continuous quality improvement are shared responsibilities throughout the position.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare food items using wide-ranging cooking methods
- Set up trays and portion food for service
- Deliver, collect, and unload meal service wagons
- Operate the dishwashing machine
- Perform kitchen and patient-area cleaning duties

Requirements:

- Graduation from a recognized 12-month cooking program
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to deal effectively with others
- Physical ability to perform position duties
