Software Developer - Intermediate

- Pay Rate: Flexible- Onsite
- Location: Toronto, Ontario
- Contract Length: 11 Months

Responsibilities:

- Develops and maintains application components based on approved technical specifications, user stories, coding standards, and guidance from senior technical resources.
- Supports coding, testing, integration, deployment, defect resolution, and technical documentation.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:

- Experience developing and maintaining Java application features in a structured team environment.
- Experience translating technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria into application code.
- Experience developing user-interface, service, API, integration, or database components.
- Experience creating and executing unit tests.
- Experience troubleshooting defects and supporting system and integration testing.
- Experience participating in code reviews and applying feedback from senior developers.
- Experience using source-control, build, deployment, and work-management tools.
- Experience supporting cloud-based microservice architecture solutions in Microsoft Azure.
- Understanding of secure coding, accessibility, privacy, and application-performance considerations.
- Experience maintaining technical documentation.

General Skills / Duties:

- Write, configure, test, and update Java code for assigned application features.
- Develop and maintain cloud-based microservice components in Microsoft Azure in accordance with approved designs and standards.
- Create and maintain unit tests.
- Troubleshoot defects and support system, integration, and user acceptance testing.
- Participate in code reviews and implement required corrections.
- Support deployment and configuration activities.
- Maintain technical documentation and implementation notes.
- Provide development estimates and progress updates.
- Escalate technical risks, blockers, and dependencies.
- Work collaboratively with developers, analysts, architects, testers, and designers.

Application Development Experience - 40%

- Experience developing application features based on approved specifications.
- Experience working with user interfaces, APIs, services, integrations, or databases.
- Experience using object-oriented or structured development approaches.

Testing and Code Quality - 25%

- Experience developing and running unit tests.
- Experience troubleshooting defects and supporting formal testing.
- Knowledge of coding standards, source control, and code-review practices.

Cloud and Deployment Support - 20%

- Experience supporting cloud-based applications.
- Experience with build, configuration, and deployment processes.
- Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery teams.

Communication and Collaboration - 15%

- Solid analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under the guidance of senior technical staff.
- Ability to communicate status, risks, and technical issues clearly.

Must Have:

- 5+ years of experience developing complex enterprise or public-facing applications.
- Experience implementing user interfaces, APIs, services, integrations, and database components.
- Experience developing and deploying applications in cloud-based environments.
- Experience with APIs, integration patterns, automated deployment, and configuration management.
- Experience developing automated tests for user interfaces, APIs, and databases.
