Support microbiology testing at Nova Scotia Health as a Senior Medical Laboratory Assistant using technical expertise and quality assurance. This permanent full-time position is based in Halifax.

The Senior Medical Laboratory Assistant provides team leadership within PLM Microbiology, Bacteriology, supporting pre- and post-analytical laboratory phases. The position requires three years of experience, independent judgment, troubleshooting, and excellent customer service. You will mentor Medical Laboratory Assistants, promote patient safety, and support quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform pre- and post-analytical laboratory functions
- Provide technical expertise, quality assurance, and mentorship
- Support work processes, training, and resource redirection




- Assist scheduling and replacement of shifts
- Perform audits and collect operational data

Requirements:

- Recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent
- Active NSRMLS licensure and qualified liability insurance
- Three years of Medical Laboratory Assistant experience
- Microbiology sample processing and media preparation experience
- Cerner Millennium and related computer skills
