Examine building plans and specifications as a full-time Plan Checker I with the Columbia Shuswap Regional District in Salmon Arm, BC. Apply BC Building Code knowledge and provide explicit client guidance.

Reporting to the Manager, Building and Bylaw Services, this permanent position coordinates and reviews building inspection and permit applications. You will work with Development Services staff while examining drawings, checking compliance, and supporting efficient application and inspection reviews. The role covers the CSRD Building Bylaw, Part 9 of the BC Building Code, and the Building Act.

Key Responsibilities:

- Coordinate plans and specifications accompanying building applications
- Examine drawings for building code and bylaw compliance
- Review building inspection and permit applications efficiently




- Provide advice regarding Part 9 requirements and the Building Act
- Deliver customer service to external clients

Requirements:

- Grade 12 and Building Technology diploma or related education
- Two years construction experience, preferably carpentry or mechanical trades
- One year relevant local government building department experience preferred
- Successful completion of Qualified Level 1 Building exams
- Valid BC Driver's License
