A well-established, growing Canadian business with multiple sites is adding an Assistant Controller to its finance team. You will be the CFO's right hand on the close and on day-to-day accounting, lead a Staff Accountant, and work alongside a Financial Analyst and senior leadership.
What You'll OwnClose and reporting: support timely, accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (GAAP), including journal entries, reconciliations, schedules and consolidated packagesVariance analysis: partner with the Financial Analyst to explain results against budget and prior periods for senior leadershipAccounting operations: keep banking, AP and AR running accurately, and act as the escalation point for complex accounting questionsControls and compliance: strengthen internal controls, support tax and regulatory reporting, and bring process improvements to the CFOAudit: support year-end audit preparation and auditor requestsPeople: supervise, coach and review the Staff AccountantBusiness partnering: work with operational teams so financial data stays accurate,



and support budgeting, forecasting and special projectsWhat You BringCPA designation or near the endDegree in Accounting, Finance or a related field+4 years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end closeStrong GAAP knowledgeExperience with an ERP system and advanced Excel skillsSupervisory or mentoring experience is an assetExperience in an inventory-driven or asset-heavy business, or with multi-site or cross-border reporting, is an assetThis posting is for an open vacancy currently available within our client's organization.
