Support addiction care as a Community Support Counsellor with expertise in concurrent disorders, brief counselling, and evidence-based treatment. The role is full time.
Working at St. Joseph’s Health System’s Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic, this counsellor supports patients and interdisciplinary teams. The position provides consultation across medical, mental health, and addictions programs. It also contributes to program evaluation, capacity building, and community outreach.
Key Responsibilities: Provide consultation for patients with concurrent disorders and addictions
Deliver individual and group-based brief counselling
Support evidence-based addiction treatment and relevant referrals
Conduct screening assessments and identify patient risk factors




Assist transitions from hospital to community care
Requirements: Two years’ recent mental health setting experience required
Experience using an evidence-informed concurrent disorder framework
Knowledge of substance-induced psychosis and withdrawal interventions
Experience with family engagement and community-based substance use support
Advanced addictions education from an accredited institution required
Apply addiction counselling, assessment, harm reduction, and interdisciplinary skills within Hamilton’s Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic.
