APL seeks a Medical Laboratory Assistant I for its Accession unit within Alberta’s provincial healthcare system. You will provide safe, productive client service while handling specimens and supporting diagnostic workflows. Collaboration with co-workers, health professionals, physicians, and patients is central to the work.
Key Responsibilities: Procure, handle, process, and dispatch laboratory specimens
Perform laboratory testing and related procedures
Report results accurately and efficiently
Support smooth, timely workflow across laboratory services




Work independently and collaboratively to solve problems
Requirements: Accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent completion
Accepted Canadian MLT or CLXT program equivalency
Completed phlebotomy training for eligible MLT or CLXT students
Applicants with a high school diploma may be considered
Experience with blood and ECG collections preferred
Bring specimen processing, laboratory procedures, and patient-focused collaboration to APL’s Medicine Hat diagnostic services team.
