ABOUT THE BUSINESS COUNCIL OF ALBERTA
The Business Council of Alberta (BCA) is a small team with a big mandate — to make life better for Albertans. We do what we do because we love this province and the people who call it home. Alberta is a place of opportunity, resilience, and innovation — and we want to make it even better.
We are a non-partisan, for-purpose organization dedicated to building a better Alberta within a more dynamic Canada. We believe that the business sector has a leading role to play in helping people, the economy and the environment thrive. We contribute by developing and advocating for policy solutions that enable growth in the short term and set Alberta on a path to a long-term sustainable future.
Composed of the chief executives and leading entrepreneurs of the province’s largest enterprises, Council members are proud to represent the majority of Alberta’s private sector investment, job creation, exports, and research and development.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Vice President of Policy, the Policy Analyst plays a critical role in executing BCA’s research and policy agenda.
The Policy Analyst’s work supports and contributes to BCA’s research projects, publications, as well as government submissions and other advocacy-related activities. Some of this work is driven by BCA’s member-based Task Forces and Committees, as well as engagement with government, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders, which the Policy Analyst will also support. We work in a very fast-paced setting and take a team approach to our work. As such, the Policy Analyst must be adaptable, proactive, and able to work effectively across a variety of projects and with a number of people. With your colleagues, you will produce content for the top chief executives in the province, government decision makers, and other stakeholders.
This is a permanent, full-time position based primarily in BCA’s office, with flexibility for occasional work-from-home days based on operational needs.
ABOUT YOU
Values: You believe in creating a better Alberta within a strong Canada and that the province’s best days are still ahead. You care about creating lasting prosperity that supports strong communities, broad opportunity, excellent public services, and a thriving business sector.
Characteristics: You have a curious and open mind, driven by data and evidence rather than ideology. You value learning and personal growth. As such, you welcome tasks that may stretch beyond your formal job description or comfort zone; identify opportunities to build on your existing knowledge and skills; and welcome feedback as a way to learn and grow.

NOTE ON USE OF AI WHEN APPLYING
BCA has a positive and open-minded view on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace. However, we believe that effective AI use must be supported by a solid foundation of analytical, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Because it helps us assess these skills, we ask applicants to submit a cover letter that reflects their own writing and limit AI use when preparing their cover letter.
