Set up and operate mills and lathes as a Machinist IV in Edmonton, Alberta, supporting SPM Oil & Gas on the evening shift.
SPM Oil & Gas, a Caterpillar company, seeks a Machinist IV to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. You will interpret blueprints, calculate machining controls, and verify finished workpieces against specifications. The schedule is currently Monday through Friday, 3:30 PM to midnight.
Key Responsibilities: Study drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts
Set up conventional lathes, mills, and boring mills
Select fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials
Adjust controls to maintain accurate machining operations
Identify worn tooling and perform required daily preventive maintenance
Requirements: Mechanical aptitude and basic plant machinery knowledge
Basic knowledge of critical safety devices
Ability to complete work-related documents accurately
Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions
Three-plus years’ experience or equivalent education and training
