Make a meaningful impact on safety across two manufacturing facilities. Signature Group brings together Signature Aluminum Canada Ltd. and Signature Fabrication Ltd., with operations involving aluminum casting, extrusion, and fabrication. We are seeking a hands-on, organized Health, Safety, and ISO Compliance Specialist to support protected operations, regulatory compliance, and applicable ISO management systems across both locations.
Reporting to the Senior HR Director and working closely with the EHS Manager and site leaders, you will be a visible presence on the plant floor, helping identify risks, strengthen practical controls, and follow through on improvements at both facilities.
What you will do:
- Conduct regular inspections, task observations, and compliance audits at both sites; maintain policies, procedures, risk assessments, legal registers, and safety records.
- Complete job hazard analyses, site-specific risk assessments, and management-of-change reviews; support controls for molten metal, furnaces, casting, extrusion, saws, and fabrication activities.
- Assess operational risks related to guarding, lockout, lifting devices, mobile equipment, material handling, heat, noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, and ergonomics.
- Respond to incidents and high-potential events, conduct objective investigations, identify root causes, and share lessons learned across the two facilities.
- Track corrective actions to verified completion, escalate outstanding risks, and use safety data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate employee safety orientation, refresher, and task-specific training; coach supervisors and support Joint Health and Safety Committee activities at each site.
- Maintain controlled documentation for applicable ISO management systems and support internal, certification, surveillance,
and customer audits, as appropriate.
What you bring:
- A college diploma or university degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Three to four years of health and safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of Ontario workplace safety requirements, risk assessments, incident investigations, inspections, safety training, and corrective-action follow-up.
- Ontario Joint Health and Safety Committee certification, or willingness to obtain it after joining; a recognized safety designation is an asset.
- Experience supporting ISO management systems and audits is preferred, along with confidence using Microsoft Office and safety tracking systems.
- Strong judgment, communication, organization, and follow-through, with the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, and leaders at both sites.
Work environment:
This is a primarily plant-based role, requiring regular attendance at both the Pickering and Whitby facilities and travel between the two sites. Work includes visits to production, maintenance, warehouse, and yard areas; extended walking or standing; and use of required PPE. Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required for incidents, audits, shutdowns, training, or shift support.
Apply:
If you enjoy being close to the operation, building relationships with teams, and helping turn safety requirements into practical improvements, we welcome your application. Please apply through this job posting with your résumé.
