Position: Safety Manager

Location: Mississauga, ON

Wesbell is seeking an Safety Manager .This position is responsible for is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies and standards, conducting audits and reviews of existing health and safety policies, advising employees on safety procedures, conducting training sessions, and addressing incidents and injuries.

Licensing (local and IRP), IFTA reporting, safety tracking and reporting to the duties.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include:

·The Day-to-Day Safety Operations of the region

· Investigate all accidents, incidents and near misses.

· Be the Co-Chairperson for the Joint Health & Safety Committee

· Be a member of the Accident Review Committee

· Be familiar with all Federal/Provincial and Municipal regulations.

· Co-Host monthly meetings with the management team and discuss accidents and claims.

· Create SOP’s where necessary.

· Work with the Safety Admin team concerning Geotab violations of drivers.

· Host quarterly safety meetings with the Ontario and Quebec regions with drivers.

· Site visits with terminals under your control when the need arises.

· Work with consultants with regards to ensuring the IFTA reports are done in a timely manner

· Sit on any safety boards the company deems necessary.

· Looks for ways to increase the company’s telematics.

· Work in conjunction of all teams

· Head up approving of drivers to become workers within our company.

· Oversee the freight claims within the region in conjunction with the safety admin team

· Conduct ride a long (evaluations) with drivers within our company.





o Any other work that the Senior Management Team finds necessary.

Education (Theoretical Training)

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline preferred

· Minimum 8 years large scale commercial, government, or industrial project management experience, including at least 4 years management level safety profession experience

· Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety and Industry Standards plus familiarity with DOE 10 CFR Part 851 highly desirable

Job Requirements & Experience

· Proven experience as safety manager

· Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines

· Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies

· Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment

· Excellent organizational and motivational skills

· Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities

· BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred

 Valid qualification in occupational health and safety

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
