Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Accountant to join our lean Finance team and play a key role in both day-to-day accounting and operational reporting for WIP Works Inc. This role combines transactional accounting responsibilities — such as invoicing, cash applications, reconciliations, and journal entries — with analytical support for plant KPIs, cost tracking, and budget preparation.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and is comfortable working across both finance and operations to ensure accurate reporting and data-driven decision-making. This position also offers career growth opportunities through exposure to cost accounting, financial planning & analysis, and cross-functional business support — making it an excellent steppingstone toward future leadership roles in Finance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post customer invoices, reconcile shipments against invoices and purchase orders, and process customer payments.
- Monitor accounts receivable, review overdue invoices, and follow up with customers regarding outstanding balances.
- Complete weekly bank and credit card reconciliations, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare and submit monthly GST and WSIB filings.
- Track and report plant operating costs, KPIs, labour metrics, production efficiency, and scrap factors using ERP data.
- Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, variance analysis,
and financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audits, inventory analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and respond to financial reporting requests from business leaders.
Qualifications
- CPA designation in progress, with enrolment in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and account reconciliations.
- Proficiency with NetSuite ERP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Robust analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
