This is a temporary full-time contract position for a duration of approx. 6 months, covering a maternity leave.

The Director of Programs & Support Services is accountable to the Executive Director and will be responsible for the management and supervision of the offices, programs and services of the Home Recreation Department, and will work with partners to ensure that the sport, recreation, leisure and cultural needs and interests of Home residents / employees are met. The Director of Programs & Support Services will work to increase community / employee participation, as well as visibility within the community / organization by raising awareness of programs and activities offered. Work duties fall under the following categories: administration; financial management; planning; program and special event coordination, human resource development; communication; and community recreation development.

The Details

- Temporary Full time - Approx. 6 month contract
- Salary Range : $30.00 - $31.00 per hour.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

- Daily operation of the recreation offices (reports, filing, correspondence, banking, supplies, computer maintenance, etc.)
- Implements and adheres to legislative requirements and policies and procedures established by the administration
- Supervises, directs, coordinates and evaluates recreation personnel in a respectful, supportive, harassment free work setting.
- Holds recreation personnel team meetings to promote and enhance communication, expectations, and departmental updates




- Establishes and maintains Risk Management Plans for the Recreation Department.
- Maintain ongoing communication with public and partners (phone/email/fax)
- Assist with annual budgeting processes and financial management throughout the year.
- Solicit donations and conduct fundraising opportunities as required
- Assist with the development of strategic (3-5 year) and annual plans
- Participation in the multidisciplinary resident care conferences.
- Liaison with Residents Council, Family Council and other committees as required.
- Plan seasonal recreation program/event schedules that meet the needs and interests of the demographics
- Coordinate program/event logistics (i.e. booking facilities, instructor coordination, scheduling, etc.)
- Program/event promotion (brochures, posters, newspaper, web sites, radio, etc.)
- Plan, implement, evaluate and revise programs.
- Identify and encourage new local program leaders and volunteers of all ages.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university;
- Minimum of one year experience working in long term care setting, however, 3-5 years is preferred.
