Casual Physiotherapist Assistant (In-Home Services)

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and motivated Physiotherapist Assistant (PTA) to provide in-home physiotherapy services to clients in London, Ontario and surrounding communities.

Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Physiotherapist, the successful candidate will assist clients with implementing prescribed treatment programs and functional rehabilitation activities in their home environment.

This casual position is ideal for an individual who enjoys working independently in the community while collaborating closely with a physiotherapy team to support clients' mobility, independence, safety, and rehabilitation goals.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide in-home physiotherapy interventions in accordance with the treatment plan established by the supervising Registered Physiotherapist.
- Assist clients with prescribed therapeutic exercises, mobility activities, gait training, transfers, balance activities, and functional rehabilitation.
- Encourage clients to participate in their prescribed rehabilitation programs and promote safe, functional independence.
- Monitor clients' responses to treatment and communicate changes in condition, concerns, or unexpected responses promptly to the supervising physiotherapist.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided, in accordance with clinic policies and applicable professional requirements.
- Follow established safety procedures, infection prevention and control practices, and client-specific precautions.




- Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, families, caregivers, and the supervising physiotherapist.
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy legislation and organizational policies.
- Travel to clients' homes throughout London and surrounding communities as scheduled.
- Perform only those activities assigned by the supervising physiotherapist that are within the assistant's competence and permitted under applicable standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Physiotherapist Assistant diploma or relevant education and experience in rehabilitation or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in physiotherapy, rehabilitation, home care, or community-based services is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to follow treatment instructions and established rehabilitation protocols.
- Robust interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with the supervising physiotherapist.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's licence required.
- Ability to travel throughout London and surrounding communities.

All physiotherapy services will be provided under the direction and appropriate supervision of a Registered Physiotherapist. The physiotherapist retains responsibility for assessment, clinical decision-making, treatment planning, reassessment, and oversight of assigned physiotherapy services.

The assistant must follow the established plan of care, communicate concerns promptly.

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6.0 – 20.0 per week
