Read this first: our crews frame the building and then clad it, so this posting needs BOTH:
- Framing experience: post-frame, wood-frame or residential stick framing
- Exterior siding or cladding experience: metal panel, vinyl, engineered wood (LP SmartSide etc.) or fibre cement
If you haven't done both, this isn't the right posting, and we won't be able to move your application forward.
Monday to Friday, day shift. Home
every night. No camps, no rotations. Year-round work.
We build shops (residential, commercial and farm). Post-frame and wood-framed, start to finish. The cladding is the part the customer looks at for the next twenty years, and it's the part we're most particular about.
Who this is for
You have 2-3 years on the tools, with real time framing and real time siding. Post-frame and metal experience is best. If you've done stick framing and vinyl or other siding, you already understand layout, square, plumb, laps and straight lines, and we'll teach you the post-frame and metal-specific parts quickly. You can run ordinary work on your own and you ask before you touch anything unusual. That's what we expect at this level.
The work - Framing:
- Set and plumb posts, and install girts, purlins, trusses and bracing
- Lay out and frame walls, openings and headers from a job sheet and simple drawings
- Keep the building square, plumb and straight so the cladding goes on right
The work - Cladding:
- Install wall and roof panels with correct overlap, fastener spacing and straight screw lines
- Install base, corner, J-trim, eave, rake, ridge cap, gable trim and closures
- Trim out overhead door, man door and window openings
- Cut panel cleanly and keep hot shavings off finished metal
Every day:
- Work safely off ladders, scaffold and lifts
- Check your own work before it moves to the next stage
How pay works here
$26-$29/hr is set by what you can do without help, not by how long you've been in the trade. Final candidates get a paid working day on site, and your starting rate is set from that day. You get a written 90-day review with a planned raise if you're performing.
We use a real ladder: Site Assist, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Lead Hand. You'll know your rung, what the next one pays, and what it takes to get there.
What we can't teach
- You show up on time and ready, 95%+ of the time, and you call before start time if you're going to be late
- You own your mistakes right away
- You follow the Lead Hand's plan and speak up when something's off
- A crooked line bothers you
