OVERVIEW:

Our client, an exploration and development company, is looking to grow their team of geological technicians for their principal asset located in Northern Ontario.

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Geological Core Technician will work with the company’s geological team and drill contractors handling and cutting core.

This role is ideal for someone interested in a remote role with a reasonable rotation schedule, comfortable camp set-up in an established lodge with good food, and an opportunity to work with a small crew. The successful candidate will be physically fit and have some exposure to an exploration site.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Core handling and managing of core storage.
- Labelling core boxes, determining RQD and core recovery.
- Photographing drill core.
- Assisting geologists with marking up core for sampling.
- Core cutting and sampling of marked-up core.
- Sorting, bagging and tagging of drill core samples.
- Working safely, following rules and complying with relevant policies and procedures.
- Maintaining a clean workstation throughout the day.
- Travelling to and from the diamond drill daily assisting hole locations and drill core retrieval
- Other duties, as assigned

REQUIREMENTS





- 1+ years of core cutting experience or experience doing similar work for the mining industry preferred.
- Some basic abilities with Microsoft Office would is an asset.
- Commitment to safety, health and the environment.
- Able and responsible individual that can work in remote locations.
- Physically capable to perform daily tasks and lift up to 60 pounds.
- Demonstrate initiative, reliability and have a good attendance record history.
- Read, understand and follow guidelines, instructions accurately and safely.
- Detailed oriented with good organizational and interpersonal skills (team player)
- Ability to work well independently
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
