Dishwasher/Prep Cook Job Description

Summary of Position:

The Dishwasher/Prep Cook is capable of using the dishwasher, executing all prep items while meeting presentation and timing standards, assists others in the kitchen, and maintains a clean, well-stocked and organized work area

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

- Presents him/herself professionally, e.g. clean uniform, well groomed. Must have non-slip shoes and black pants, apron and chef jacket.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of recipes, procedures and plating for all menu, special and promo items for which he/she is responsible
- Meets timing standards
- Ensures items are prepared in accordance with recipes
- Works cooperatively with all staff to respond to guest needs
- Ensures his/her areas of responsibility are well stocked and guest ready and clean
- Maintains high standards of cleanliness, safety and food safety throughout the shift
- As required: stock taking, cleaning, opening and closing tasks; and any other duties designated by the management team or Kitchen Leader
- To ensure that all stocks are kept under optimum conditions
- To ensure that his section is being kept clean and tidy at all times
- To ensure that any anticipated shortages are communicated promptly to the sous chef or head chef
- To attend training courses and seminars as and when required




- To strive to study management subjects in preparation for future advancement

- Valuable communication skills
- Able to accurately read recipes
- Well organized, shows a sense of urgency; able to track multiple orders and multi task
- Works well under pressure
- Team player, works productively with others
- Understanding of food safe practices

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to speak, read, analyze, and interpret standard of performance manuals, technical procedures, manuals or statutory regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of Line Cook, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 24KG. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the core functions of Dishwasher/Prep Cook, the employee is usually indoors, in a controlled environment, and experiences moderate noise levels in the working environment.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.25-$24.25 per hour

Expected hours: 18.0 per week
