Industrial Sewing Machine Repair Technician

Job Summary

The Industrial Sewing Machine Repair Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of industrial sewing machines used in high‑volume production environments. This role ensures equipment reliability, product quality, and minimal production downtime by providing timely technical support and preventive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues on industrial sewing machines
- Service and maintain high‑speed, heavy‑duty equipment including lockstitch, overlock, coverstitch, bar‑tack, buttonhole, and specialty machines
- Adjust machine timing, tension, feed mechanisms, needle systems, motors, and control units
- Perform preventive maintenance programs to reduce breakdowns and extend machine lifespan
- Calibrate machines to meet production specifications, stitch quality, and safety standards
- Troubleshoot servo motors, drives, sensors, control panels, and basic PLC‑related issues (where applicable)
- Test machines after repair to ensure safe operation and consistent stitching quality
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service records, and parts usage documentation
- Collaborate with production supervisors, engineers, and operators to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime
- Train or support machine operators on proper machine use, basic adjustments, and preventative care
- Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with suppliers or service vendors
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards and manufacturer requirements

Qualifications & Skills

- Diploma or certification in industrial mechanics, electromechanics, industrial maintenance, or equivalent experience




- Proven experience repairing and maintaining industrial sewing machines in a production workplace
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Solid understanding of industrial machine components, drive systems, and control mechanisms
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance systems (PM schedules)
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work under production pressure
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with brands such as Juki, Brother, Pfaff, Singer Industrial, Kansai, Yamato, Mitsubishi, Durkopp Adler
- Experience in garment manufacturing, upholstery, footwear, automotive interiors, or technical textiles
- Familiarity with computerized, programmable, or automated sewing equipment
- Experience supporting lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments

- Exposure to noise, lubricants, moving machinery, and production deadlines
- May require occasional overtime, shift work, or on‑call availability
