Project Manager - Security, Electrical, Telecom & Automation
Ideal Integration Inc. – Edmonton, AB
Full-Time | Above-Industry Salary + Performance Bonuses + Full Benefits
About the Role
Ideal Integration Inc. is entering an exciting new phase of growth under new management and as part of a larger group of companies with a proven track record of building high-performing teams across North America. Ideal Integration Inc. is an Edmonton-based systems integrator delivering automation, security, telecommunications, and audiovisual solutions for commercial, institutional, and industrial clients across Alberta. We design, install, and support integrated systems that keep buildings connected, secure, and running efficiently. We're growing, and we're looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead projects from award through closeout.
What You’ll Do
As Project Manager, you'll own the full lifecycle of systems integration projects, including structured cabling, networking, access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, electrical, and building automation. A key part of this role is leading projects in data centres and other mission-critical environments, where uptime, security, and precise coordination are essential. You'll be the main point of contact for clients, general contractors, and consultants, and you'll lead our field technicians and subcontractors to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects at once from contract award through commissioning, handover, and closeout.
- Lead security and electrical scopes on data centre projects, including recent builds, expansions, and work in live, operating facilities.
- Review drawings, specifications, and scopes of work; identify gaps, risks, and change opportunities early.
- Build and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts; track progress and report to management.
- Prepare and manage Methods of Procedure (MOPs), change management requests, and work schedules that protect uptime and critical operations.
- Coordinate labour, materials, equipment procurement, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate electrical work such as power distribution, UPS and PDU connections, generator and switchgear interfaces, and power for security and telecom systems.
- Oversee data centre security systems, including multi-factor and biometric access control, mantraps, perimeter security, and high-density camera coverage.
- Act as the primary liaison with clients, general contractors, engineers, consultants, and facility operators.
- Prepare and manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and progress billing
- Attend site meetings and conduct regular site visits to monitor quality, safety, and workmanship.
- Ensure work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code, Alberta permitting requirements, CSA Z462 electrical safety standards, applicable codes, and Ideal Integration's health and safety program.
- Work closely with electrical contractors and commissioning agents through integrated systems testing and turnover.
- Oversee as-built documentation, O&M; manuals, and client training
- Support estimating and pre-construction as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of project management experience in low-voltage, telecommunications, security, electrical, or building automation systems.
- Demonstrated project management experience on data centre or mission-critical projects, specifically covering security and/or electrical scopes.
- Hands-on knowledge of structured cabling (copper and fibre), IP networking, access control, CCTV/VMS, and intrusion systems.
- Working knowledge of data centre power and infrastructure (UPS, PDUs, generators, switchgear, busway, grounding and bonding).
- Understanding of data centre standards and practices, such as TIA-942, Uptime Institute tier concepts, and working safely in live environments.
- Experience managing electrical scopes and coordinating with Master Electricians and electrical subcontractors.
- Experience with building automation or controls systems (BACnet, Modbus, or similar) is a strong asset.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple stakeholders on commercial construction projects.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction and electrical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office and project management software [e.g., MS Project, Procore]
- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's licence and a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to pass a criminal record check.
Assets
- PMP, CAPM, or Gold Seal certification
- BICSI RCDD or other BICSI credentials
- Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, Lenel, Honeywell, Siemens)
- Experience with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) or DCIM platforms
- Eligibility for enhanced security screening or government security clearance
- Electrical or Communications Technician background, or a related diploma/degree
- Valid safety tickets (Construction Safety Training System, WHMIS, Fall Protection, Arc Flash/CSA Z462)
