We handle claims across personal and commercial auto, property, farm, cargo, equipment, liability, and bodily injury – from routine files to large, complex losses. About the Role
We are seeking a qualified individual to handle automobile claims in the areas we service. The ideal candidate is a licensed, experienced adjuster who can manage an independent caseload from a home office, conduct thorough investigations – including on-site visits and in-person statements when required – and deliver clear, well-supported reports within tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and evaluate residential and commercial property claims, including fire, water, wind, theft, and vandalism losses
- Conduct on-site inspections when required, and virtual/desk inspections using policyholder- and contractor-submitted photos, video, and self-inspection tools; scope damage using industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Xactimate)
- Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely claim reports, estimates, and photo documentation
- Communicate professionally with policyholders, brokers, contractors, and insurers by phone, email, and video throughout the claims process
- Negotiate and settle claims within assigned authority levels
- Maintain compliance with Alberta insurance regulations and applicable service standards
- Manage an independent caseload remotely to our quality standards and deadlines, keeping accurate documentation, reserves, and transaction records in Adjusting HQ
- Maintain strict confidentiality of claimant, policyholder, and insurer information, and handle all personal and claims data in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and our file-handling requirements
Qualifications
Required
- Active Alberta Insurance Council adjuster license in good standing (or eligibility to obtain one)
- Minimum 5 years of property claims adjusting experience
- Proficiency with Xactimate or equivalent estimating software, plus virtual inspection and reporting tools
- Robust analytical and negotiation skills
- Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet home office setup
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel within the Edmonton area for on-site visits
- Professional and self-directed, with strong written and verbal communication and the discipline to manage competing deadlines remotely
- Pass the Government of Alberta Care-First manager training (The Alberta Government has stated that this course must be completed by January 1, 2027 for all independent adjusters in the province)
Preferred
- Large-loss and complex claims experience
- CIP, FCIP, or equivalent professional designation
